i spent more time away than i intended to, but i have a lot on my plate, so it does not surprise me. a lot has been accomplished in the last 18 days.

in previous posts i have been vague. this is only because im in a state of transition, and im assuming a reasonable amount of risk in the process. also, there are many times when i am in a subordinate position, and i am not sure how much info is privileged. even though im sure my audience is very small (probably only one person in fact) i feel my job security is more intact if i dont disclose everything. frequent this site and the pieces of the puzzle will gradually get filled in.

**news**

now that all that is aside, i would like to share some current news:

• i have officially left my staff position as assistant engineer at quad recording studios. my three year stint at the historical nashville studio helped me develop a great set of skills, and network with some influential people. i got a great education from some of the best teachers you could ask for. this being my first music industry job, it will always be memorable.

• i am making some progress with the design of my new studio. i have been spending quite a bit of time studying acoustics and construction, and have found a lot of good information. i have never been involved in a construction project before, much less one involving building a studio, so it is a bit of a challenge. however, due to the fact that im working with a moderately small budget, it is necessary that i be the head designer. as the progress continues i will update you with what i learn. ill try to pass on the information, and direct you to good resources for studio design. hopefully i can post some pictures too!

• i have begun talking to a new artist about producing an ep. i wont disclose too much for now, but stay tuned and i will update you with the developments. right now we are talking about recording 5 songs, three of which i will co-write on.

stay tuned-its about to start getting interesting…

im thinking about it right now and im so excited: i dont have to go to the stupid meeting this friday. or ever again. so im slowly hacking away at that to-do list. got a couple of things knocked out today. the fact that i have my WHOLE friday at my disposal is really going to work to my advantage…

ive decided to put to rest this post-a-day goal. ive proven that i can do it if i want to, but what is the point in posting every day if your posting has no point. im going to take a few days off to attempt to get better at this new craft of mine…

talk to you soon.

i almost missed my post goal again today. i spent the day at the lake in the hot sun. i had a lot of fun, but im very tired tonight. i dont have much to say. i think the only thing that is really on my mind at all right now, is that im kind of in a phase of writer’s block. when i say “writer’s block” i really mean “creative block,” because although i do write, its not what i earn my living doing.

im at a crossroads right now. ive quit my staff job at the recording studio i have held since the summer of 2004, and am trying to focus all my energy into my own production work. right now im in between projects. i have been hired to be a part of a project that starts on the 23rd, but im going to be more of a co-engineer/assistant. after that project is done, i dont have anything else lined up. my mind is full and racing with how to move ahead with my plans for my production company. im going to spend the next week learning (how to be a better blogger, for example) rather than creating.

currently im trying to meet a one-post-a-day goal. for the last four days ive been on track. i almost broke the flow today.

im finding out first hand just how hard blogging is. its very challenging to come up with original content that is valuable to everyone. im still refining my abilities, trying to stay away from just mindlessly blabbing about myself. there is no telling just how long its going to take me to get this down. it also makes me feel weird to see how much i am talking about myself. ive gone back to read the posts ive written, and i kind of cringe when i see how many times i typed “i” or “me.” the art of blogging is a struggle for me. hopefully this post-a-day goal will keep my mind stimulated, and things will fall into place. so with that im going to close this post (crash and burn). im going to get some sleep, and spend tomorrow at the lake.

im quickly becoming obsessed with blogging. it has already proven to be very rewarding/fun, and im constantly thinking about what my next post should be. ive started reading a whole lot of other blogs, researching how others who have been blogging longer than me do it. im also reading up on internet technology a lot more. this has opened a whole new interest in my life, and im very excited about the possibilities. its also kind of strange to me, because i feel like im someone who pays pretty good attention to what is going on in the world of technology. however, blogging has made me aware of just how far behind the curve i actually am. new development in our modern digitized age is moving faster than we (or maybe just i) can comprehend. no one could have ever predicted just how deep of an impact the internet could have had on our global society. the uses and applications for the internet continue to multiply every day. what is also amazing to me is how valuable this intellectual property becomes. through blogging i sought out to become inspired. i have become inspired…

first let me say thank you for your interest. i realize there more than likely is no one out there at this point. after all, im just starting this blog. how could anyone possibly know about it? there is the chance that there are a few people who have wondered across this page much like you would by clicking on the “cool new people” section on myspace. but for the most part, i am talking to no one but myself.

my goals for this site immediately is to promote myself and my artistic/creative work. 90% of that is going to be production work in the music field. however, there are times when i may have a song or picture or whatever else that i have created that i want to show off. on the more long term front i would like to use this site to talk about other topics. things such as politics, general business and finance, for example. what i really want to stay away from is just mindlessly journaling my life. as if im publishing my diary or something. my basic desire is to document interesting topics that are beneficial to others as much as they are to me. i want this page to hold some kind of value for others. my not so basic desire is to stimulate my mind in a new way in order to engage in some kind of personal growth. naturally, its going to take some practice with a side order of trial and error to find the right topic/content/agenda for this page.

in the end im going to have fun. on some level im going to achieve my goals. im already learning and growing. thanks for reading. if you are even out there at all.
